The 5 terraces of Madrid, with the best views!

Article written by: Javier PĂ©rez, founder and guide at Free Walking Tours Madrid.

To get the best panoramic shots of the city, you have to go up to the sky. Exquisite drinks, an unbeatable atmosphere and for those who suffer from vertigo, don't worry, because Madrid has something for everyone.

Here we leave you 5 of the best terraces that you can find in Spain’s capital city:

5. El Cielo de Alcalá - Hotel H10

Address: Calle de Alcalá, 66

Access price: Free

It's Mediterranean cuisine is ideal for brunch time and lunchtime, and its cocktails at sunset make it a great option to enjoy the views of the city.

Located in the extreme northeast part of the famous Retiro Park, El Cielo de Alcalá enjoys a privileged orientation towards the park, the Puerta de Alcalá and the center of the capital city.

One of its great attractions is the methacrylate pool (only for customers) from where you’ll see the hotel guests cool off on hot days.

4. Gourmet Experience - El Corte Inglés

Address: Plaza de Callao (Floor 9)

Access price: Free

On the top floor of El Corte Inglés in Callao, a few meters from the starting point of the Madrid Free Tour, we’ll find its Gourmet Experience.

A dozen food stalls, with a wide variety of prices and flavors. Asian, Basque, Mexican, Italian, Spanish... always with a nice gourmet touch.

The terrace is divided into 2, an indoor area ideal for sheltered eating and an outdoor area, which does not enjoy the best views in this ranking but where you can also enjoy a nice drink.

Admission is free which makes it a winning option if you are in the city center, want to eat and enjoy some good views.

3. La Terraza del Ă“scar - Room Mate Ă“scar

Address: Plaza Vázquez de Mella 12 (Floor 8)

Access price: Free

The design and its careful cocktail menu make it a great option in the heart of Madrid. Not just that, but it's prepped to be enjoyed year-round, so don’t worry if it’s too cold out. Go for it anyways!

Located in the central neighborhood of Chueca, one of the liveliest in the city, it attracts both tourists and locals. It is the classic place where you go up to take a photo of the views and where you will end up having more than one drink.

Let yourself be carried away by the rhythm of the music and… enjoy!

2. 360Âş Sky Bar, Hotel Riu Plaza

Address: Gran VĂa, 84

Access price: € 10

A terrace to touch the sky of Madrid.

It opened its doors in 2019 and from the first day it became one of the essential events in the capital. Despite its entry price, it is very popular and it is not difficult to guess why.

Located on the 27th floor, you will enjoy one of the most complete panoramic views of Madrid: The Royal Palace, The Almudena Cathedral, Plaza de España, Gran Vía, Casa de Campo, the Moncloa lighthouse ...you’ll see it all!

Among the main dishes we would find its cocktails, a wide selection of beers and for the most daring the glass walkway from which we can literally fly over the rooftops of Madrid.

1. CĂrculo de Bellas Artes

Address: Calle de Alcalá, 42 (Floor 7)

General access price: € 5, € 4 (youth card)

This corner of Madrid is one of our weak spots and well deserves the fame it has achieved in recent years, thanks to incredible views of the Metropolis Building, the Plaza de la Cibeles and the City Hall.

It is located at the top of the fine arts building, an authentic cultural entity where you can also visit exhibitions dedicated to all kinds of artistic expressions, painting, literature, theater...

The authentic show begins at sunset, when the sun slides between the interconnected rooftops of the city, giving us one of the best pictures of the city. Impossible not to fall in love with Madrid with views like this.

This is a selection of our favorite terraces, although there are surely many more. If you think something is missing, do not hesitate to write to us, we love discovering new secrets of Madrid!
