Free Walking Tour Bruges

Discover the stories of medieval Bruges and the best places to see now!

Free Bruges Walking Tour

Bruges Free Walking Tour

Since 2018 Ambassadors of Bruges has been the best choice to experience this beautiful medieval city through a free walking tour. We believe the best way to discover a city is with a local to get all the insights and to create the best experience and memories. Ambassadors Tours is a collective of local guides and storytellers (we’re a non-profit organisation started by guides, for guides).

We offer our original Highlights: History & Heritage Free Walking Tour as well as specialty and private tours in Bruges. They are a perfect introduction to discover the stories and the importance of medieval Bruges as well as the best places to go nowadays.

All of us have our own personal stories and stops on a pretty similar route. So you’re not getting a traditional corporate tour but an honest experience designed by your guide. That’s why in less than two years we have become the no. 1 tours in Bruges.

We took the tour with James and it was quite astonishing how he managed to bring so many interesting stories across in such a humorous way. We certainly learned a lot about Bruges - a great way to start our trip there. Highly recommended!

To book this tour for a one-day trip to Bruges was the best decision. Our guide Steve was incredibly friendly and helpful, he gave us useful tips on where to buy the best chocolate, waffles and souvenirs. He also told a lot of interesting local stories, which made our walk around this beautiful city even more amusing. Time passed really quickly and we weren't even tired after it.

Dimitri was great, and I ended up being the only person on the tour and he still gave me a great tour without grumbling. He is a mine of information and his enthusiasm, knowledge and flexibility made this a lovely introduction to Bruges. He also shows you extra add-ons that you wouldn't see on any other tour. Highly recommended.

Frequently asked questions about the tour

How long does the tour last?

Depending on how many questions you ask, the size of the group and the walking pace of your fellow participants the tour usually lasts between 1:30 and 2:00 hours (sometimes even longer).

How do I find the guide?

On the main square of Bruges, the Grote Markt, you’ll recognise us by our yellow umbrellas. We’ll be waiting for you right in the middle of the square in front of the Belfry Tower.

How much should I tip for a free walking tour in Bruges?

It’s totally up to you! We love this concept because it allows everyone, no matter if they normally can afford to join a tour or not, to pay what they can. We always do our very best to get 10 and 20 euros per person if you enjoyed the tour.

Is the tour accessible for wheelchairs and strollers?

We have designed the route of the tour in a way that everyone can enjoy the beautiful medieval centre of Bruges. Just keep in mind that practically the whole city is paved with cobbles.

In which languages can we follow the tour?

Our tours are offered in English and Spanish. However if you book a private tour we can also run it completely in Dutch. For other languages just send us a message and we’ll get you in contact with one of our colleagues.
