Free Walking Tour Cologne

Get to know the culture of Cologne with Freewalk Cologne!

Free Cologne Walking Tour

Freewalk Cologne started in 2014 as a private event related to Couchsurfing. The founder decided to show the city to his couch-guests. As a true “Kölsche” (people from Cologne), he’s passionate about the city and likes to spread the love for it. At a later point, he learnt about the concept of free walking tours and he then decided to try it out and make it a weekly event. As time went by, this weekly event turned into a daily one and as more and more people showed up, a bigger team was also needed and thus Freewalk Cologne was born. Ever since, the company has grown not only to become the most preferred tour company in the city, but also to make our guests explore and enjoy our beloved city in different ways.

Our team consists of local guides, that were either born in the city of Cologne or that have been living here for years and are in love with it. We are eager to show you around and make you fall in love with the city as much as we do.

We offer two different free walking tours: our Classic Cologne free tour and The Dark Side of the Dom free tour. On the Classic Cologne free tour, you’ll get the experience the city centre (and not only the typical touristic sightseeing) and as well have an introduction to the culture, life-style and history of the city. On The Dark Side of the Dom, we’ll move a bit away from the tourist areas to show you a different, more obscure side of Cologne’s history.

If you want to experience the true Kölsche Jeföhl (Cologne feeling), don’t think twice and join us!

What visitors think about Free Cologne Walking Tour?

We had Mike as a tour guide for our English walking tour, who was informative, humorous and very communicative! He made an emphasis to share with us the feeling behind the city and its people, which left us a great impression of Cologne. It’s worth joining the tour to know the city.

It was a nice 2,5 hours walking tour. I learned a lot about the city, including history and fun facts as well. André is a great guide, he leads tours in English and Spanish. For me it was a plus that he is not a Cologne native, but someone who is truly in love with the city. Thank you for the great tour!

We are following the guidelines of the German government regarding public health and gatherings. As well, we have reduced the capacity of the groups to 20 people, to ensure safe distance between the guests. What if I’m running late? How will I recognize the guide?

We like to start our tours in time, but we usually wait until every booking guest reaches the meeting point. Therefore, we ask our guests to be punctual, as we usually leave the meeting point around 10 minutes after the starting time. Nonetheless, if for whatever reason, you’re running late or cannot find the starting point, please contact us. The guide will be that friendly person standing at the meeting point, who’s wearing a shirt or a bag with a chameleon and who’ll happily welcome you to the city.
