Free Walking Tour San Antonio

Join Amigo Walking Tours for a fantastic experience and discover the best places in San Antonio.

Free San Antonio Walking Tour

Amigo Walking Tours is absolutely the friendliest way to explore the beauty and history of San Antonio, Texas. We started in 2018 with a mission of not only being the city’s first free walking tour, but also its most hospitable and engaging hosts. We love welcoming visitors (and locals!) and showing them many reasons that San Antonio is a one-of-a-kind city!

The Free Public Tour of Downtown covers just about everything you need to know and see in the city center, starting in the oldest part of San Antonio and then winding along the River Walk, stopping at the Alamo, playing “I Spy” at a giant mosaic, and finishing at the city’s tallest building. Plenty more takes place along the way, and it’s a perfect way to be introduced to San Antonio.

A complete schedule of Free Public Tours is available on our official website. If you would like a tour on a specific date or on a different route (or perhaps you just want a little VIP attention), then send us a message to ask about availability of our Paid Private Tours. We are always glad to hear from you, so don’t be shy!

What visitors think about Free San Antonio Walking Tour?

Brent was an engaging, knowledgeable and fun guide. We learned so much about a city he is obviously passionate about. We chose the free tour but because of recent circumstances it became a private tour. Would highly recommend Amigo Tours as part of your vacation plans, especially at the beginning of your trip to get a lay of the land and recommendations for further exploring. Thank you Brent!

We signed up for the walking tour of the King William District, and enjoyed it so much we joined the next tour which was the historic City tour. Brent, our tour guide, was personable, knowledgeable, and entertaining. These tours were my favorite activity of our San Antonio trip, and I know my travel companions agreed that these two tours were fantastic.

Thank you Katia for introducing us to San Antonio. Thank you for all the tips you shared, we immensely enjoyed our short time in the city. We followed your advice to drive to Fredericksburg. What a charming town. The weather that Monday couldn’t have been better to drive to Texas Hill Country. Thank you also for the mango ice cream tip! We made sure not to leave SA without tasting it.

Frequently asked questions about the tour

Are reservations required?

Reservations must be made at least 90 minutes in advance of a tour time to guarantee participation. Simply visit our website and book online. You can show up without a reservation (or book a reservation less than 90 minutes in advance), but the tour cannot be guaranteed, as it may not have room or may not take place. As such, it’s always best to make a reservation!

What’s the weather like?

San Antonio has lots of sunshine. Although we do our best to give guests access to shade and air conditioning, it’s important to dress appropriately for the tour and have some water handy. In the event of inclement weather, we always think about the wellbeing of our guests first! If the weather is questionable, we will contact all reserved guests to let them know if the tour is happening or not (usually 90 minutes in advance). Guests are also welcome to message us to check on the status.

Do I have to pay?

There is no set price for our Free Public Tours, but tips are very appreciated, as they are the only way guides make money for the time and energy they invest in leading tours. However, our top priority is that everyone has an equal opportunity to see the beauty and history of this fine city, regardless of their ability to pay. So if you can’t tip, we gladly accept thank you’s or the naming of your firstborn child.

How many people can join me on the tour?

If you’re with a group of eight or more people, please send us a message in advance of making a reservation. Often it’s best for larger groups to do Paid Private Tours, as space along the River Walk can be very limited at times..
