I did the free walking tour around Granada starting at 11am. The tour was the perfect length showing us all the interesting parts of the city! The tour guide Alberto was very friendly and knowledgeable, making the tour fun and interesting. I would recommend - now I feel I know more of the city and can explore better on my own!

Frequently asked questions about the tour

Where do the free tours in Granada start?

The Essential Granada Free Tour and Albaicín and Sacromonte Free Tour both start right next to the fountain at Plaza Nueva, just in front of the pharmacy.

How can you recognize the meeting point for the free tours in Granada?

A staff member or tour guide will be holding a red umbrella with the Walk in Granada name and logo at our meeting in the middle of the square at Plaza Nueva.

Are pre-bookings mandatory or can I just show up at the meeting point?

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, bookings were not mandatory but since May 2021 this has changed and pre-booking is required. Knowing the amount of people beforehand allows us to organize better in case there is too many people and that way we can call other tour guides and split the groups. We do not want to overload the groups because the tour would lose quality. Also, it’s important to have the traveler’s contact phone and email in case there are any cancellations which are unlikely to happen.

Why can’t groups of 9 people or more join the free tour?

Our free tours are aimed for solo travelers, couples, families and small groups. Normally, large groups of 9 people or more tend to overcrowd the free tours. If you are travelling with a large group, we give the option of requesting a private tour where you will have your own tour guide, gives you more flexibility and you can even choose the start time of the tour.

What is the recommended tip on a free tour?

Tips are not mandatory and each person is free to give our guides what they think the tour was worth depending on his or her level of satisfaction. Normally, a tour of this type and duration in a prepaid format has an approximate cost of 10€/12€ per person in case you need a reference.
