Free Walking Tour Leipzig

The fastest growing city in the whole Germany!

Free Leipzig Walking Tour

Leipzig has always occupied an important position on the map: either because of its big and old fairs and markets, or because it was the cradle of great composers like Bach, Mendelsohn, Schumann, Wagner or Grieg, who spent several years living and working in this city, or even because it was the scene of one of the most important Napoleonic battles, the Battle of the Nations. Not to mention that great scholars such as Goethe, Leibnitz and Nietzsche studied at the University of Leipzig, Germany's second oldest university. But there is no need to look back on past centuries when, in our more recent history, Leipzig also occupies a crucial place.

If you want to discover how the fastest growing city in Germany is today, don't hesitate, join our tours! In addition to our classic City Tour, you can explore all aspects of this beautiful East-German city with our special tours: Music Tour, Jewish Tour, Napoleon Tour and GDR Tour. And don't miss our Alternative Tour, a walk through the most rebellious and artistic side of the city!

Free Walking Tour Leipzig is a local company founded in 2017 by Matej Eber. After three years of intense work, we are happy to be the best rated tour in Leipzig, ranked #1 on TripAdvisor and Traveler’s Choice of 2020. Today we are a group of 7 professional tour guides: Matej, Juan, Florian, Svetlana, Krischan, Johannes and Anne.

What visitors think about Free Leipzig Walking Tour?

Michael J
The tour was really informative and catchy. During 2 hours and a half Matej guided out tour in a bit of a cloudy morning. He started talking about the importance of commerce in the city history and then we went around the city center getting all kinds of stories about Leipzig. Religion, Politics, Music and all kinds of relevant information was given. We even failed to play an old Chinese musical instrument XD given as a gift in one of the multiple fairs held in the city. I'd totally recommend the tour to get the general idea of what's happened in Leipzig in the past.

This is a fantastic tour that covers all the important sights of downtown Leipzig. The guide is usually Matej, who is also to founder of this business. He has lots of little fun facts and knowledge that even locals who have lived here for decades don't know. Highly recommended!

I've been to a couple of tours in other cities, but this tour was the best one I've been to. Usually tour guides are either trying too hard to be funny or are a bit too dry and serious, but this tour is a good combination of information mixed with light comedy, so the two hours pass in a heartbeat. You learn both of bigger historical events and smaller fun insights into the city. I really recommend this tour, because you will explore the city of Lepizig with much bigger interest after you learn a bit of it's history.
