Our tour guide, Byron, was very knowledgeable, spontaneous, confident and patient. He had a practical and systematic approach to introducing the different areas of Chinatown. One of the best stops was the hawker center as we were introduced to some of the best food stalls in town. Excellent tour as we completed our journey with a better understanding of Chinatown and its interesting history.

This was an excellent tour. We we were not only shown the site but also given an insight into the culture and history of Singapore. There were little touches the tour that really showed excellent planning and years of experience (like the opportunity to send a post card). As someone who does a walking tour in almost every city I go to and I highly recommend this one. Dani was an excellent, enthusiastic guide!

Our guide was Jun Wei who was personable and friendly, and noting that some members of our party were more conversant in Mandarin, attempted to (or succeeded in, one should say) conduct the tour in both English and Chinese, switching up fluently despite his prior caveat that his Mandarin was not up to scratch. As with guided tours, you are privy to shared nuggets of information and tidbits of knowledge that you otherwise would not have known before.

Frequently asked questions about the tour

What can I expect when I join one of your free walking tours?

All our tours cover different areas, with no repeated sites across the tours. As it is a walking tour, do expect to be walking a fair bit, but we make it enjoyable with great stories from our guides! Each tour covers a unique neighbourhood in Singapore, and you’ll get to explore more of Singapore’s history and culture by visiting iconic landmarks with our experienced guides. On top of that, you’ll also get the chance to meet like-minded travellers from all across the globe. As our tours are popular, group sizes can get quite large, especially over the weekends. Do remember to register online before joining one of our tours so that we can prepare for exceptionally large groups in advance.

Am I allowed to join a tour halfway?

Our tours are formatted to tell a story from start to end, which is why we recommend joining us from the beginning to ensure that you get the experience. Due to the nature of walking tours as well, it may be tough to locate the group once they have started, as they will be moving around during the tour. If unfortunately can only join a tour halfway, please inform your guide during a suitable break, so that they can help you register as part of the group.

I want to show my appreciation with a tip. What happens when I tip?

Don’t worry, 90% of your tip will go to your guide, so you can show them your appreciation for their hard work. The rest of your tip helps cover our basic marketing expenses, and because we want to do good, a portion of the funds are used to help set-up a tourism co-operative that aims to keep tourism sustainable and responsible in Singapore. Do look out for more details in the future!
