Explore the Hague with Free walking tour The Hague!

Free The Hague Walking Tour

Free Walking Tour of the Hague is a great way to discover The Hague.

We share the story of the biggest Dutch city along the North Sea and the government capital. From the seaside boulevard of Scheveningen to the characteristic old city center, there are many reasons why the Hague should be on your route.

Our story starts at the Dutch parliament, along with the palace where the royal family resides, and to ‘Haagse Harry’. During the 2-hour walking tour, our local guides will tell you all the ins and outs of this great city.

When you visit the Hague, meet us at the ‘Plein’ square in front of the Mauritshuis at the corner of the House of Parliament.

Join us on an entertaining, informative, and fun tour. At the end of the tour, the guide is more than happy to tell you about the best places to eat, drink and go sightseeing.

Discover the Hague on our Free Walking Tour with a friend from the town and experience the city as the locals do.

Great walking tour, good historic references! exactly what I was looking for. Milan was fun, entertaining and his English is super. We were reminded of the Covid rules at the beginning. We walked for about 2h+, saw beautiful places I will definitely go back for a quick visit after the tour. I highly recommend this tour!!

We had an amazing tour through The Hague. The guide was very good! We saw lots of places we wouldn’t have discovered on our own. Moreover it was very interesting to hear some facts about the monarchy and politics of the Netherlands. Absolute recommendation! We fell in love with The Hague!

Frequently asked questions about the tour

Where is the meeting point?

Free Walking Tour The Hague starts at the Mauritshuis, this is on the Northwest end of the square called ‘Plein’ and at the entrance of the Dutch parliamentary courtyard called the ‘Binnenhof’. Find the location on online maps: Plein 29, 2511CS, The Hague. 15 minutes before the start of every tour, we will be waiting for you. Recognize us by the white umbrella that we carry, rain or sunshine.

Is the Hague really at the sea?

Yes. The city borders the North Sea, however the tour is about 5 kilometers (2 miles) away from the sea. We do not see the ocean on our tour, however it can be easily reached from the city center and our guides will be happy to tell you how to get there. The seaside neighborhood is called Scheveningen, boasting a lovely boulevard with restaurants, bars and shops. Enjoy a cold drink by the ocean on a sunny day, or be like the Dutch and go ‘uitwaaien’ (literally: blow out) on a windy day.

How long is the walk?

The walk that we make is about 2 hours, which comes down to one hour of walking and one hour talking. The distance we cover is about four and half kilometers/ approximately two miles. The whole tour, like most parts of the Netherlands, is wheelchair accessible.

What do you see on the tour?

Beautiful squares with a great history, our House of Parliament and the royal palace where the king works today. We gaze at the big church and giggle at the statue of Haagse Harry. We walk through cosy streets and hit the cultural hotspots. There isn’t one special thing that makes this tour great, but the combination of history, entertainment and great stories. All brought to you by a local friend, who loves showing you around.

What is the cost of a tour?

As the name states, it is a 100% free tour. You are free to join when you want, free to leave, and of course free to tip the guide whatever fits your budget. We want to make tours possible and affordable for everyone and every budget. Our tours aren’t funded by the government, so our only income relies on your gratification. We are always thankful with whatever you think the tour is worth!
