Free Hamburg Walking Tour

Robin and the Tourguides - Hamburg Free Walking Tours, was founded in 2014 by a small group of local tour guides. Our goal is to offer top rated tours that are authentic and true to the spirit of our beautiful city.

Each Guide has a deep connection to Hamburg and special view of the city and is routined in offering some of the most enjoyable tours the city has to offer. Brent was our touristic guide. He took us around St Pauli and Harbor, without being boring even for a single second. He mixed historical facts with a lot of tellings about the phenomenon of gentrification. He also told us a lot about the period where The Beatles played in Reeperbahn and since it was hot he was also smart enough to do a small pause so that we could buy food and drinks.

Brent was wonderful!! This was our first free tour and we were very impressed. Lots of information was given that we wouldn't have heard of otherwise. He was very knowledgeable, but also had a great sense of humor. He answered any questions we may have had and made it a great experience! Would definitely recommend!!

These tours are really great! You learn about the history, politics, culture and more. We enjoyed the City tour so much, we went back the next day for the Reeperbahn tour. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Next time we're in Hamburg, we'll do the craft beer tour!

Frequently asked questions about the tour

What languages do you offer your free tours in?

We offer both our free tours in English and German. Our guides have a high proficiency in the languages.

Do the free tours start every day?

Yes, both our free tours start every day, in English and German. However, sometimes there are extreme events out of our control that do not allow for the tours. Please check our “Current Announcements” at https://www.robinandthetourguides.de/en/ to see if all tours are running as scheduled.

Where do the free tours start?

Our Hamburg Historic Centre Tour in English and German starts in front of the main entrance of the town hall every single day at 11:00 a.m. Our Harbour, St.Pauli & Reeperbahn Tour in English and German starts at the Landungsbrücken No. 5 (right next to the Hard Rock Café) every single day at 2:00 p.m. You will be able to recognize our guides easily - they will hold bright yellow umbrellas.

How long are the free tours?

Both free tours take about 2 hours time. This means if you want to take both tours in one day, you will have about an hour break in between to get something to eat, drink or just sit down and relax a bit. Also, the 2 o’clock tour starts only about a 10 minute walk from where the 11 o’clock tour ends.

What do I need to bring to the tour?

In case it is hot do not forget enough water and sunscreen. In case it is cold please dress accordingly - it is better to wear too many layers than not enough. It might also be a good idea to carry an umbrella since the weather in Hamburg can change very quickly.
